Plant Quenchers are glass bulbs with narrow stems you push into the soil of a container plant to let water drain out slowly. Dry soil is porous, which allows the flow of air through the soil. When the soil at the mouth of a Plant Quenchers begins to dry out, air will flow through the soil and up the Plant Quencher's stem, displacing water. When the displaced water wets the soil, the pores close again and the air flow stops. This process slowly wets the soil just as it dries out, keeping the soil damp but not overly wet. Depending on the soil and plant, these Plant Quenchers can last between 5 to 9 days depending on how thirsty your plant is and how dry the soil is.
